The department of Bengali of Netaji Nagar College for women started their glorious journey in the year of 2008. That way the study of Bengali literature raised students awareness about Bengali culture and heritage. These studies helps them to understand socio cultural diversity and thereby develop a concern for society. There is a departmental magazine named ‘Drishtikon’ where the students take the leading part of the writings. They used to write in different genre of literature. The department tries to give the opportunity to the students to equipped themselves with the skill to understand the present and shape the future on the basis of their acquired knowledge of the past(such as: Charjapad, Srikrishnakirtan,Mangalkavya,Padabalisahityaetc). They would be able to enlighten the society on how to apply the past writings of Vidyasagar,RajaRammohan Roy, PyarichandMitra, Michael MadhusudanDutta, Rabindranath Tagore, Vivekananda and many more. The syllabus helps to enlighten them on different values and morality of human life through novels,poetry ,short stories and essays. These studies make them understand the narratives of ancient, medieval and modern Bengali history and culture along with the changes in the world scenario.The skill enhancement skill enhancement course helps them to learn how to write reports, scripts,storyboard,stories, how to take interviews and how to perform in research methodology in higher studies.With this goal in mind students are taken to different educational tours. The knowledge of language and skill development courses will help the students to built their career oriented future. In that goal the department organized some tours to watching plays and movies. This mode of study will help to familiarize the learners with varied openings of future activities in the other form of current dynamics of life. Department use to organized poster presentation, quiz competition, cultural program,seminars and workshops.
